Autism
is a condition found in children at an early age. It is a blessing in
disguise that it can be detected as early as treatment can be given to
overcome it. It is a neurological disorder, which manifests itself in
social interactions and problems in language development and
communication skills. It includes a whole gamut of signs and impairment
levels. The most evident sign of autism is inability to communicate. A
child of a certain age is generally expected to communicate in a certain
way, with of course some concessions here and there. This condition
shows itself prominently and sometimes signs are ignored, as parents do
not want to believe that something is wrong with their child. However,
if the parents or teachers catch these symptoms soon, treatment can be
afforded accordingly with all positive hopes that it will be cured
largely.
Children with autism are unable to understand what the other person says to them. You can see then struggling to hear and try to comprehend what others are talking about but they usually fail to do so. Even if they do understand, it would not be in its entirety. As a result, because they are unable to converse or understand, they cannot show or express what they feel or what they want to say. Autistic children turn out to be sensitive because of this problem and what seems normal to others would be a great pain to deal with for them such as normal senses of touch, smell, pain, and so on. Another sign to look out is for body language. Children with this condition usually have a repetitive body movement, which does not seem normal such as flapping their hands for no reason, rocking while standing and sitting and the like. Severe cases of autism lead to seizures in children.

Treatment
Autism
treatment is widely available and since it has become common, research
is being done and there are institutions and specialist people who deal
with this. Doctors and even teachers at school are trained to deal with
autistic children.
- It has been proven scientifically that intervention in early years, as early as toddler years, brings considerable improvement in the children with respect to learning, social behaviour, and communication.
- The intervention programme includes activities for children to overcome this problem, defined learning objectives are set in the beginning, and parents must have an active involvement and so on.
Autism treatment also helps those who are unable to sleep well due to this issue. What is usually advised is to put them on a routine and stick to it. In addition, a set bedtime goes a long way in helping them deal with it. Going to bed at the same time every day and early gives the body the required rest and they tend to get up fresh and energetic for the next day. If nothing seems to work, doctors would then prescribe medicines but that is mostly the last resort.
Awareness
It
is also true and cannot be argued that until now even though science
and medicine have advanced so much there is no permanent cure of autism
treatment. This is a condition, which cannot be treated in its entirety.
What can be done is reduce it to a significant level. Like other
medical problems, autism too if detected at an early stage can get much
better treatment as compared to if found out at a later stage. Autism
signs are apparent. It is just as parents we need to be more aware of
what to look for and accept that our child might be suffering from this.
